• A significant foreign-owned business sector :

Alsace is home to more than 1000 foreign-owned businesses (50% or more of share capital owned by foreign shareholders), 40% of which are in the industrial sector. Multinationals such as DuPont de Nemours, Novartis and Sony have chosen to set up business in Alsace.

Foreign-owned businesses employ almost one fifth of all wage-earners in Alsace (more than 4 out of every 10 workers in industry) and represent 35.5% of all inward investment (44% in the industrial sector). These businesses account for 66.2% of the total turnover of Alsace-based companies.

Exports per capita in Alsace are considerably higher than the French national average.
